University of St Andrews Taekwon-do Club

Taekwon-do is a dynamic, disciplined martial art originating from Korea. It involves using hand and foot techniques to defend yourself and is known for its vast range of powerful kicks. The sport also has a strong focus on developing mental strength, discipline, and resilience. Taekwon-do is often referred to as a ‘way of life’ and the principles Taekwon-do teaches are effective not just in a fight, but in everyday life.

The club is open to students of all levels of experience, including beginners. We practice mainly in the ITF style, although we welcome students who have trained in other styles, including WT, and incorporate other styles in our training sessions. We regularly compete in the WT style, as well as ITF.
